She also expressed how the hands-on activities captivated her interest and enriched her understanding of science, instilling a sense of wonder and curiosity that she intends to carry forward. “I was encouraged to apply for a scholarship from DOST-SEI. I thought about it while it was being discussed to us. I realised that there is a way to help my parents send me to school. So why not gran the opportunity,” said Flordelyn May Blanco, a Grade 11 student at SMNHS, as she enthusiastically shared her nuLab experience.

“Ang nuLab ay pumunta sa Sanchez Mira para tulungan ang mga taga-Cagayan ng Region 2 para maghanda sa paparating na pagbabago ng ating klima at pagbabago ng ating panahon,” emphasized Jeffrey Maloles, a marine scientist and DOST-SEI scholar-graduate who facilitated the module on Climate Change and Sustainability.

Charmaine Villamil, from DOST-Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology and a DOST scholar-graduate, on the other hand, sparked the young Kagay-anons’ interest and curiosity on the science behind earthquakes as she delved into the critical topic of “The Big One.”
