British TV presenter and comedian Paul O’Grady has died aged 67. 7NEWS
O’Grady, also known for his drag queen persona Lily Savage, died “unexpectedly but peacefully” on Tuesday evening.Stream the world's best reality, entertainment and true crime shows for free on 7Bravo on“It is with great sadness that I inform you that Paul has passed away unexpectedly but peacefully yesterday evening,” , his partner Andre Portasio said in a statement.
“We ask, at this difficult time, that whilst you celebrate his life you also respect our privacy as we come to terms with this loss. “He will be greatly missed by his loved ones, friends, family, animals and all those who enjoyed his humour, wit and compassion.“I know that he would want me to thank you for all the love you have shown him over the years.”
O’Grady hosted The Paul O’Grady Show, Blind Date, Blankety Blank and gameshow Paul O’Grady’s Saturday Night Line Up.The persona was developed in 1978 and was based on some of O’Grady’s female relatives. He performed as Savage throughout the 1980s and ’90s, using his platform to speak out about gay rights.O’Grady also presented For the Love of Dogs – being a well-known animal lover, advocate and supporter of Battersea Dogs and Cats Home in London.for an episode of For The Love Of Dogs which aired across the UK to mark 160 years of the Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.Fans of the TV veteran have since reacted online to his sudden death.“This is so sad, I loved watching him when I was younger.
