Newly minted Employment and Workplace Relations Minister Murray Watt has come to blows with Sky News’ Andrew Clennell as the Labor MP ruled out a Royal Commission into the embattled construction industry in the midst of controversy surrounding the CFMEU.
Workplace Relations Minister Murray Watt has sworn off a Royal Commission into the embattled construction industry amid the move to appoint an administrator for the CFMEU .
Clennell then pressed Mr Watt on overall reform to the construction industry, asking him point blank: “Do we need a Royal Commission into the construction industry?” “Mr Watt, maybe, just like the NACC you need a standing royal commission,” the Sunday Agenda host said. Mr Watt told the Sky News host that Labor had “already ruled out bringing back the ABCC” as allegations of corruption and bikie activity occurred while the watchdog was in power.
