Basilan Rep. Mujiv Hataman said he is supporting Sulu Gov. Sakur Tan’s bid to run as chief minister in the first-ever Bangsamoro Parliament elections next year.
“The coalition has come to a consensus that it will be backing Gov. Sakur Tan for the position of chief minister in the Bangsamoro Parliament because the BARMM Grand Coalition believes he is more than qualified to hold the post,” Hataman said. He announced the support of the Bangsamoro People Party for Tan during the recent general assembly of Salaam Party-BGC in Maimbung, Sulu.
Hataman is one of the founders of the BPP. He said they arrived at their decision after a series of meetings and consultations with officials and members of all the political parties, non-government organizations and civil society groups. The coalition is composed of major political parties in BARMM — the Salaam Party of Tan himself; BPP, led by Hataman; Al Ittihad-UKB Party, led by Sultan Kudarat former Gov. and now TESDA Secretary Datu Suharto Mangudadatu, and Serbisyong Inklusibo Alyansang Progresibo Party, led by Lanao del Sur Gov. Bombit Adiong.
