BASILAN Governor Hadjiman Hataman-Salliman has appealed the municipal mayors to help ensure that the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections will be peaceful and orderly.Salliman made the call during his meeting with all the town mayors of the province at the provincial capitol on Tuesday, October 24, 2023.
The military has already deployed additional troops to help secure the conduct of the elections in Basilan on October 30.The first augmentation forces arrived in Basilan via Lamitan City on October 15 coming from Jolo, Sulu.On Monday, Brigadier General Alvin Luzon, 101st Infantry Brigade commander, welcomed the troops of the 18th Scout Ranger Company, the second group of augmentation forces sent to Basilan.The rangers came from Bulacan where they have undergone retraining and refurbishment.
