The combined impact of tropical cyclones Nika and Ofel has caused extensive damage across parts of Luzon, affecting 309,518 individuals or 85,415
families, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council .
The affected areas include the Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Bicol, and the Cordillera Administrative Region.Of the total population affected, 26,923 people are currently in evacuation centers, while another 19,572 individuals have sought shelter in other locations. Additionally, two injuries were reported in Central Luzon due to the storms.
Infrastructure damage is estimated at P320,658,974, primarily in Central Luzon. In total, 2,394 houses sustained damage: 2,158 were partially damaged and 236 were completely destroyed, with the majority located in Cagayan Valley. Flooding has also disrupted 153 road sections and 91 bridges, while operations at 21 seaports have been suspended.
Power outages were reported in some areas. The storms led to the suspension of classes in 579 areas and work schedules in 178 areas.The NDRRMC has provided P10,646,973 in assistance to those affected by the cyclones.
