DAVAO CITY—The fabled oil and gas in the Liguasan Marsh in south central Mindanao has sparked renewed interest in its exploration, with some quarters saying that the untapped black gold in its waters is the economic savior of poor Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

They said the untapped mineral resources of the marsh could be a source of wealth for the Bangsamoro region. Under the proposed measure, the Bangsamoro Energy Code would set guidelines for implementing energy projects in the BARMM, as an Energy Sector Committee would be created under the Bangsamoro Economic and Development Council to facilitate the implementation of energy programs, policies and projects following pertinent energy and other regulatory laws and issuances.
His bill sought to reduce the cost of electricity for Bangsamoro government offices and buildings through the use of solar energy systems.
