POLITICAL and campaign advertising is going through another round of digital transformation.
First, in 2019 or even as early as the 2016 elections, it was the use of social media. Political advertising or campaign content was developed by political and campaign strategists, and the delivery mechanism was through websites, blogs and social media pages.The next round of digital transformation is now emerging.
A little over a month into the official campaign period for national candidates in the 2019 elections following the promulgation of Resolution 10488, compliance was reportedly low. Perhaps the political parties and candidates at that time were still grappling with the idea of how to conduct political campaigns on social media. If a law regulating the use of social media is passed, how different it will be is yet to be seen.
