The blue boathouse in Seaforth is one of a number of trophy homes trading in the pre-Christmas trading period.
A new listing in Balmain East in Sydney’s inner west could reset local records with the arrival of a Simmons Street absolute waterfront owned by reluctant local downsizer Diane Mahony. If the $18 million plus price guide is achieved, it could rival the current Balmain East record for non-waterfront set by restored gothic mansion Rothesay when itNon-waterfront Rothesay snatched the previous suburb record from Fairfax heir Angus White’s $15 million waterfront.
Ms Mahony and her late husband Alan Kittle bought the property in 2014 for $6.5 million and have extensively restored the 1895-built home Brookfield, named after the County Cork region of Ireland, where the original inhabitants – an Irish sea captain’s widow and her six children – hailed from.Ms Mahony said she would miss the 180-degree view of Sydney Harbour, including Barangaroo and the Harbour Bridge.
The property is currently being shown off-market with a full marketing campaign to launch in the new year.Meanwhile, buyer Jens Petersen is behind the $9.75 million sale of a Seaforth Crescent luxury home complete with distinctive blue boathouse overlooking Sydney Harbour’s Powder Hulk Bay, according to settlement documents.
