BAGUIO CITY – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) attributed the low turnout of voters in the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections here on October 30 to All Saints’ Day or “Undas” on November 1.
Baguio Election Officer John Paul Martin said it is better if the election is held in the first week or second week of October, away from the Undas commemoration.
Of the 169,711 registered voters here comprised of 75,700 males and 94,305 females, only 89,854 or 53.01 percent voted. These barangays were Quezon Hill Proper, City Camp Proper, Engineers Hill, DPS Compound, Lower General Luna, Hillside, Mines View, Harrison-Carantes, Upper QM, Magsaysay Private Road, Quirino Magsaysay Lower, Lower Lourdes, Balsigan, Atok Trail, Country Club Village, and Aurora Hill North Central.
