A 59-year-old man died in a fire that affected seven residential houses at Gaerlan St., Brgy. Campo Filipino in Baguio City, early Tuesday morning.
The fire broke out at 5:55 a.m and was estimated to damage P900,000 worth of properties. “The Baguio City Fire Station led by FSupt Marisol Hernandez Odiver placed the initial cost of damages at P900,000 in the fire that was put out at 8:12 a.m,” the Baguio Local Government said. Baguio Office of the City Social Welfare and Development head Liza Bulayungan said five houses were totally gutted down while two others were partially damaged affecting nine families and 47 individuals.
Assistance was immediately provided by the CSWDO and the Department of Social Welfare and Development Cordillera . Mayor Benjamin Magalong thanked the responders led by the Baguio City Fire Stations -Camp Allen, Quirino Hill, Irisan, and Aurora Hill with augmentation from Tuba Fire Station and La Trinidad Fire Station, 911 On Call, Sunshine Fire Volunteers, water delivery companies, and other private volunteers.
