The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) predicts a further drop in temperature in Baguio City due to the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan). The Amihan season arrived late this year due to consecutive tropical storms, leading to a colder weather forecast starting in January. PAGASA anticipates single-digit temperatures in Baguio, with a possibility of reaching 3°C to 4°C in high elevation areas, leading to frost. The cold weather is expected to last until March.
The temperature in Baguio City is seen to further drop due to the Northeast Monsoon , according to PAGASA on Monday. In Nico Waje’s Monday report on “Saksi,” PAGASA weather specialist Chenel Dominguez explained that the Amihan season arrived late due to the consecutive tropical storms that hit the country last year, unlike before were the weather was cold during the last of December or early January.According to PAGASA, Benguet recorded its lowest temperature last January 7 with 13°C.
If the temperature reaches 3°C to 4°C, places in high elevations would experience andap or frost. The cold weather is seen to last until March before the dry season.
