Bacolod City Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez stated his intention to proceed with the demolition of 22 structures behind Manokan Country in Purok Masinadyahon, Barangay 12 , despite a request for a one-month extension from Barangay 12 Captain Ely Alcantara Jr. The demolition is currently scheduled for January 28th. Mayor Benitez expressed concern that granting the extension would only prolong the process further.

'If I grant their appeal, it will just take more time and the demolition will continue to be postponed,' he said.The development of Manokan Country in 2024 impacted a total of 65 houses in Barangay 12, with some families already relocated to designated sites. Of these affected families, 22 remain in the area, although 5 families are ineligible for relocation assistance.A pre-demolition conference was held on January 17th, 2025, at Barangay 12, organized by the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP) Visayas in collaboration with the City Legal Office, Barangay 12 officials, the City Engineer’s Office, and the Bacolod Housing Authority (BHA). Neil Victor Saril, Assistant Chief Operations of PCUP Visayas, confirmed that the demolition would proceed as planned on January 28th, despite the residents' plea for a one-month delay. He also assured that the PCUP would provide support to the City Legal Office during the demolition process.
