The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) has launched a transport safety investigation after two single-engine light aircraft collided at Caboolture Airport in Queensland on Friday.
The national transport safety investigator confirmed that the incident occurred shortly after 10:30 a.m. local time, when a Jabiru J430 was taking off from one runway while a Piper Pawnee was landing on a crossing runway.ATSB said that some investigators already arrived at the scene, with more to join them on Saturday morning.
"Investigators will begin gathering evidence by mapping the accident site, examining the aircraft wreckage, interviewing the surviving pilot and witnesses, and collecting relevant recorded information such as any CCTV footage and flight tracking data," said the bureau, also calling on possible witnesses to provide information.related stories
