Heatwave warnings have been issued for South Australia, Victoria, Tasmania, NSW and parts of Western Australia, with temperatures expected to rise as much as 16C above average.
A heatwave is continuing to scorch large parts of the country, with some states set to hit record-breaking temperatures on Tuesday. The Bureau of Meteorology issued heatwave warnings for South Australia, Victoria, Tasmania, NSW and isolated parts of Western Australia with the mercury soaring by as much as 16C above average in some regions.
Melbourne is also set to swelter through its hottest day since January last year with the mercury set to tip 37C, as well as its hottest night in four years with temperatures not expected to dip lower than 26 degrees. "The heatwave continues again today with Adelaide again on track for the high 30s or even the low 40s," he said.
