Titmus finished second with a time of 1:53.01, while Canadian young gun Summer McIntosh came in third with 1:53.65.
"I'm absolutely excited. I was not expecting that at all entering this, I just wanted to have fun and give it a crack," an ecstatic O'Callaghan told Nine after the race. It was a bittersweet result for Titmus, who was disappointed at missing out on the gold medal, but thrilled for her training mate."I did all I could. I have to be happy with a PB," she told Nine."We do very different training, she trains more for the 100m, I train more for the 400m, so for us to meet in the middle it's exciting.
"The timing is exceptional. Knowing that she withdrew from one of the events as well - she had a knee problem - she's such an impressive swimmer.
