ByThe City of Manila will declare August 4 as “Carlos Yulo Day” to honor the double Olympic gold medalist who resides in Leveriza, Malate. Yulo will be celebrated in a special ceremony at Manila City Hall on Monday
Mayor Lacuna explained that due to Yulo’s busy schedule, the award ceremony is set for Monday at the City Hall.. Another distinguished Manileño, pole vaulter EJ Obiena, will also receive a cash incentive of P500,000. However, since Obiena is scheduled to travel abroad on Thursday, his award earlier, Wednesday night.
Lacuna awarded Obiena’s cash late in the afternoon “We will prioritize EJ’s award since he is leaving tonight. As for Carlos Yulo, his ceremony will take place on Monday due to his full schedule,” Lacuna said.
