No officers were physically injured during the altercation, according to RCMP.
RCMP said they notified the director of law enforcement about the incident immediately and have initiated their own internal review process. The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team has been asked to investigate by the director of law enforcement.
“Independent of ASIRT’s investigation, the Alberta RCMP’s internal review process has been implemented to gather a full account of what took place during this incident,” RCMP said in a news release on Friday.
