An ash emission was detected at the summit crater of Kanlaon Volcano on Monday afternoon, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology .The emission was first observed at 5:35 p.m. and continued until 6:41 p.m.“This event generated grayish plumes that rose 75 meters above the crater before drifting westward, as recorded by IP cameras stationed at Mansalanao, La Castellana , and the Kanlaon Volcano Observatory in Canlaon City ,” PHIVOLCS reported.

Kanlaon Volcano remains under Alert Level 3, indicating a high level of volcanic unrest.PHIVOLCS warned of potential hazards, including sudden explosive eruptions, lava flow or effusion, ashfall, pyroclastic density currents, rockfall, and lahars during heavy rainfall.The volcano last erupted explosively on December 9, leading PHIVOLCS to raise the Alert Level from 2 to 3.
