THE Food and Drug and Administration (FDA) has approved the regulated use of a vaccine against the African swine fever (ASF) by the Department of Agriculture (DA) through the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI).
THE Food and Drug and Administration has approved the regulated use of a vaccine against the African swine fever by the Department of Agriculture through the Bureau of Animal Industry .The DA said on Tuesday it aims to roll out the AVAC ASF Live vaccine from Vietnam by August 15, but the bureaucratic process might delay this to September.Tiu Laurel said that P350 million was allocated for procurement of the vaccines.
Tiu Laurel said the DA will recommend the vaccine for commercial use if the initial rollout will be successful in containing the ASF.Following a directive issued by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in April, the DA, BAI, FDA and Department of Health signed in early June an agreement to streamline the application process for manufacturers, importers and suppliers of ASF vaccines.
