ZAMBOANGA CITY – Total hog mortalities here reached 1,500 after an additional 386 succumbed to the African Swine Fever early this week, according to data released by the Office of the City Veterinarian.

Barangay officials have set up their own checkpoints and are closely monitoring the entry and exit of animals, particularly hogs and meat products. The Office of the City Veterinarian and the Department of Agriculture spearheaded dialogues to advise livestock raisers on ASF prevention.
