CAMP OLIVAS, City of San Fernando, Pampanga — A village chief in Arayat, Pampanga was shot dead inside the barangay hall on Sunday evening.
The victim was identified as Norberto Lumbang alias 'Kap Mel,' 57, barangay captain of Barangay Lacquios in Arayat town.Based on the investigation conducted by Arayat Police Station, the victim was inside the barangay hall at around 8:30 p.m. when attacked by unidentified armed men.Police probers said they learned of the incident after receiving a phone call from a concerned citizen reporting that four armed men attacked a barangay official in Barangay Lacquios.
The suspect with a long firearm went inside and shot the victim in different parts of his body. The victim died on the spot.The suspects immediately left the place and fled to an unknown direction.The Arayat police immediately requested a flash alarm for dragnet operation for the possible arrest of the suspects.'We will deploy all available resources and work tirelessly until those responsible are brought to justice,' said BGen. Jose Hidalgo Jr.
