Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim was today asked to give a firm commitment to the lower house that the Tobacco Products and Smoking Control Bill will be tabled next month.

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has given a firm commitment that Putrajaya will table the much-awaited Tobacco Products and Smoking Control Bill in the Dewan Rakyat in May.“I would like to apologise for the delay because many MPs have asked for some provisions in the bill to be reviewed.”

He was responding to Dr Kelvin Yii , who asked Anwar to give a firm commitment to the lower house that the bill will be tabled next month. Last Saturday, health minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa was reported as saying that the bill would be tabled next month, which regulates all smoking products, including smoking materials containing nicotine, “to ensure comprehensive control over nicotine preparations or gels containing nicotine in e-cigarettes or vapes”.
