COTABATO CITY – Another House bill proposing a larger sum representing reparation for damages wrought by the 2017 Marawi siege has been re-filed by Lanao del Sur (First District) Rep. Ansaruddin A. Adiong after the 17th Congress failed to act on it.

Hataman, a former regional governor of the defunct Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao like Adiong, and Sangcopan proposed P30 billion in reparation for victims of the five-month long war. “Two years after the Marawi siege, it is heartbreaking that many Meranaw families affected by the crisis Eid in tents and temporary shelters,” stated Hataman, noting the recent Eid’l Adha feast among Muslims.

The Maranao lawmaker, now in his third congressional term, proposed the release of P50-billion in three phases – the first involving P10-billion to come from national appropriation, the second requiring P20-billion contribution from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office , and the third segment sourcing out P20-billion from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation .
