YESTERDAY, Sept.
9, 2024, the original manuscript of the Act of Proclamation of the Independence of the Filipino People, along with other important original documents such as the original manuscripts of Rizal's 'Noli me Tangere' and 'El Filibusterismo,' went on public display during the opening of the National Library of the Philippines' Permanent Gallery.
' We don't know if the rest of the signatories were left out of hastiness, lack of readability, or for the purpose of drawing attention only to those few names.'That there is such a handwritten copy is new information for historians. I am not surprised because even the US Declaration of Independence apparently has several handwritten copies. One, of course for posterity, and two, to keep its existence since the British might capture the original copy.
