In a memorandum issued March 1, Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. said various groups had manifested their intention to join the strike to protest the public transport modernization program to be enforced on July 1.
“In anticipation of the potential halt in transportation and its subsequent effect on the commuting public, especially students attending their classes, it is necessary to suspend [in-person] classes during the nationwide transport strike,” he said.
