MANILA – “Ang Huling El Bimbo” will have its 100th performance at the Newport Performing Arts Theater this weekend, making it the longest running Filipino musical staged by Resorts World Manila.

Going on its 100th show, “Ang Huling El Bimbo” makes its last few tweaks with Vic Robinson assuming the alternate role of Emman alongside Boo Gabunada. Tony Award winner Lea Salonga only had good words for the musical: “It’s gratifying – such a satisfying experience to be able to see this and feel so proud that it is original Filipino music with a very original story. This is something you will regret if you don’t come see it.”
Eraserheads alumnus Ely Buendia, who penned most of the songs for “Ang Huling El Bimbo,” for his part, said: “This play did a good job in honoring that time – the warmth, the humor, and well… the darkness sometimes. It was vividly expressed in this musical and I think they got the gist of it.” After the 100th performance, fans can still catch the last 10 shows every Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at 8 p.m., with matinee shows every Saturday and Sunday.
