The Asean+3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO) forecasts a 6.3 percent growth for the Philippine economy in 2025, citing stronger domestic demand and easing policy rates. While the 2024 growth estimate was revised down to 5.8 percent, AMRO maintains its positive outlook for the Philippines as one of the fastest-growing economies in the region.

STRONGER domestic demand coupled with easing policy rates will drive Philippine economic growth this year, the Asean+3 Macroeconomic Research Office said. AMRO kept its 2025 growth forecast at 6.3 percent, and chief economist Hoe Ee Khor said the county would still be 'one of the stronger, faster-growing economies in the region.'The projection falls within the government's 6.0- to 8.0-percent target for the year.'We kept the growth forecast at 6.3 percent ...

'AMRO, however, trimmed its 2024 growth estimate for the country to 5.8 percent from 6.1 percent, below the government's 6.0- to 6.5-percent goal.'We shaved the growth down to 5.8 percent because the third quarter was very weak,' Khor said.Finance Secretary Ralph Recto last week said that the 2024 target was likely missed, with a series of severe storms having limited an October-December rebound following a disappointing third quarter.
