An anonymous group accused Rommel Banlaoi, a renowned analyst about the South China Sea row, of receiving funds from the Chinese government.
Rommel Banlaoi is National Security Adviser Clarita Carlos's choice as deputy NSA.
In a radio interview with Sapol-DWIZ, Carlos boasted of Banlaoi’s reputation as a “scholar in defense and security,” and was her undergraduate and graduate student in political science at the University of the Philippines Diliman’s College of Social Sciences and Philosophy. According to them, in 2013, former NSA chief Cesar Garcia was ordered by National Intelligence Coordinating Agency Director-General Trifonio Salazar “to validate information that Banlaoi was receiving funds from the Chinese government.”
