Following a trough moving through Labrador, our next weather system arrives on, you guessed it, Friday. Weather specialist Allister Aalders details that system and who in Atlantic Canada could see double-digit temperatures today.
We’re in between systems right now with a weak trough over Labrador and a developing system that will move in Friday. The 30 to 40-plus cm of snow recorded in parts of eastern Cape Breton and eastern Newfoundland was a reminder that it is indeed winter.A warm front crossed the Maritime provinces last night with some showers along and ahead of it.
We then have another Friday system on the way – a low-pressure system currently developing over the midwestern U.S. This will begin as periods of two to 10-plus mm of rain for Nova Scotia, southern New Brunswick and southeast Newfoundland, but a period of ice pellets or freezing rain is possible during a transition to flurries on the backside of the system Friday night into Saturday.
