Nova Scotia’s long track speed skaters made a short but sweet stop in Charlottetown for the opening ceremonies for the Canada Winter Games on Saturday ...

Nova Scotia's long track speed skating team will be competing in the Canada Winter Games at the Emera Oval in Halifax. Team members are front row, from left, Genevieve Robinson, Grace Sullivan, Aoife Marshall and Evan Ren. Back row are managed Andrew Tulloch, Julia Foran, Findlay Tulloch, Garrison Woodford, Caius Taggart-Cox and coach Jessica Telizyn.

The athletes will miss the revelry in P.E.I., but competing on home ice is a plus said Findlay Tulloch, who is competing in his second Canada Games. He represented Nova Scotia in short track in 2019 in Red Deer, Alta. Joining Tulloch on Team Nova Scotia are Julia Foran, Garrison Woodford, Camus Taggart-Cox, Genevieve Robinson, Grace Sullivan, Aoife Marshall and Evan Ren.“Being on home ice is a unique opportunity for our team, primarily because they know this ice exceptionally well,” said the 22-year-old coach. “It isn’t necessarily as exciting as being far from home on new ice, but we know the ins and outs.

“Training and relying on the Emera oval is hard as it is unprotected from the elements and faces the brunt of our warm winters,” said Telizyn. “We have had numerous practices cancelled this season which is less than ideal. We are hopeful the weather gods will be favourable to us this week.”
