Police in the Philippines have arrested Ustadz Jakaria Jamani, 35, accused of being the mastermind behind the abduction of American vlogger Elliot Eastman. Jamani was apprehended on January 7th on the boundary of Zamboanga City and Basilan Strait. Eastman was kidnapped from his wife's residence in October 2024 and is believed to have been killed by his abductors during the sea transportation.
POLICE arrested the alleged mastermind in the abduction of American vlogger Elliot Eastman in the waters off Zamboanga City and Basilan Strait. In a report, the Police Regional Office -Zamboanga Peninsula said the suspect, identified as Ustadz Jakaria Jamani, 35, was arrested on the afternoon of January 7, at the boundary of Zamboanga City and Basilan Strait Seawater.
The charges were in relation to the abduction of Eastman on October 17, 2024, from his wife’s residence in Sibuco, Zamboanga del Norte, along with other suspects Walid Alih, Bogah Ayah, and Abdul Sahibad who remains at large. PRO-Zamboanga Peninsula spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mon Sawan said Jamani was tagged as the “mastermind” of Eastman’s abduction.
