A man alleged to be one of the world's biggest drug kingpins has been extradited to Melbourne in one of the 'most high-profile arrests' ever made by Australian police. 9News

The Canadian man has been extradited to Melbourne.

The syndicate allegedly used money laundering remitters offshore and in Australia, including unlawfully using a bank account in the name of an Australian casino, to pay for the drugs. AFP Assistant Commissioner Krissy Barrett has said the man's arrest in Melbourne today "would be one of the most high profile arrest in the history of the AFP".Tse will face Melbourne Magistrates' Court today charged with conspiracy to traffic commercial quantities of controlled drugs, for which the maximum penalty is life imprisonment.

He was first arrested by Dutch National Police at Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport on January 22, 2021 at the AFP's request, but has only just arrived in Melbourne after spending months fighting the extradition request.
