The evacuation of over 14,000 residents from the six-kilometer radius permanent danger zone around Mayon Volcano is expected to be completed today.
In an interview with reporters on Sunday, Eugene Escobar, chief of the research division of the Albay Public Safety and Emergency Management Office , said the target number of evacuees is 14,213.
"It's safe to say that today the evacuation for those in the six kilometer danger zone will be completed," he added.He said numbers could still change as some evacuees choose to stay with relatives rather than at evacuation centers.
