In the letter, the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office said it “regrets that, because of limited space at the state funeral service and associated events, no other members of the principal guest’s family, staff or entourage may be admitted”.The office said that foreign leaders should arrive in the UK on commercial flights “where possible” because Heathrow Airport will not be available for private flight arrangements or aircraft parking.

“In some cases, it will require Australia to go to their countries in order to pick people up if that’s available,” he said. Defence Minister Richard Marles, who will serve as acting prime minister while Albanese is in London, said prime ministers almost never fly commercial because of security concerns.“That has to be the paramount consideration here,” he told ABC radio. “And I might add that that’s not just a consideration from the point of view of the security of the prime minister, it’s also about the security of the public.
