MANILA, Philippines — Alas Pilipinas fought hard to clinch back-to-back bronze medals after prevailing over Indonesia in five grueling sets, 20-25, 25-20, 16-25, 15-10, in the Leg 2 of the 2024 SEA V.League at Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.
The Jorge Souza de Brito-mentored squad finished on the podium again after claiming the bronze in Leg 1, then now repeating the results in the second leg. Second-stringer Jema Galanza scored nine out of her 13 points in the fourth set to force the match into a five-setter. In the fifth frame, Alas Pilipinas used a 5-1 start and relied heavily on its tower Alyssa Solomon for net defense.
Alas Pilipinas could not keep up with the powerhouse Thailand after falling in straight sets, 18-25, 23-25, 16-25, in Leg 2 of the SEA V.League on Friday in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand. During its second match in the second leg, Alas Pilipinas suffered a straight-set loss once again over the six-time tournament champions Thailand, 18-25, 23-25, 16-25, last August 9.
