ICYMI: Airdrie resident dies after driving off exit ramp at high speed, RCMP says

The hatchback then drove off the westbound ramp and went up the embankment, across Veterans Blvd. and crashed on the north side of the road. The driver — who was the lone occupant of the vehicle — was treated by RCMP, Airdrie Fire and EMS at the scene and was transported to Foothills Medical Centre with serious, life-threatening injuries.This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below.RCMP Cpl. James McConnell said the incident is not considered to be a police chase because of the distance between the police vehicle and hatchback at the moment it drove off the ramp.
Airdrie RCMP continues to investigate the situation and considers excessive speed to be a contributing factor in the collision.
