CEBU CITY — The Environ-mental Management Bureau in Central Visayas has confirmed that air quality in Negros Island remains safe despite the eruption of Mount Kanlaon.As of Thursday, data from monitoring stations in Negros Oriental and Cebu province showed that pollutant levels are within safe limits.Mount Kanlaon, located on Negros Island, erupted on Monday, releasing ash plumes and gases into the atmosphere.
This station replaced the previous monitoring site in Barangay Masulog, which was relocated due to its closer proximity to the volcano.The Mabigo station became operational on Wednesday at 6 p.m. It measured sulfur dioxide at 3.4 µg/m³, particulate matter 10 at 11.5 µg/m³ and particulate matter 2.5 at 4.3 µg/m³.All values were classified as 'good,' indicating little to no health risk.
