Key security sector leaders in Mindanao, including the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Western Mindanao Command led by Lt. Gen. Antonio Nafarrete, have committed all available resources to ensure the peaceful conduct of the first parliamentary elections in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) on October 13.
CAMP SK PENDATUN, Maguindanao Norte — Key security sector leaders and stakeholders across Mindanao have committed all available assets and resources, including manpower and equipment, to ensure the peaceful conduct of the first parliamentary elections in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao on Oct. 13.“ troops are fully prepared to secure polling places, support civil authorities, and create a safe environment where every voter can freely exercise their right,” Lt. Gen.
Participants unanimously agreed to work closely to prevent violence, protect critical infrastructure, and ensure the secure and timely delivery of election materials.“We are well aware that elections in the Barmm are often confronted with distinct security challenges, from historical tensions to operational complexities. For this reason, our approach must be anticipatory, not merely responsive,” Nafarrete said.
