Armed Forces of the Philippines chief Gen. Romeo Brawner has confirmed there is a plot to overthrow President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., and some of those pushing for the commander-in-chief's removal are retired military officers.
Brawner said he has personally talked to some retired officials who are part of the destabilization plan. "Marami po tayong naririnig ngayon na mga masasabi nating destabilization efforts. May mga nagsasabi na dapat palitan ang ating pangulo, dahil sa maraming rason. May mga nasasabi, na dapat ay magkaron ulit ng coup d'etat. And sadly, some of them, were former officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines," he said on Friday during the Joint Change of Command and Chief of Office Ceremony of Western Mindanao Command and Office of the Inspector General.
The AFP chief warned them against recruiting active soldiers to oust Marcos. He also cautioned active AFP members from being involved in the destabilization plot, reiterating his call for unity in the organization."Once we find out any of our active personnel who are involved in this, we will act swiftly but judiciously. So wag na, wag na natin — wag na tayo mag-isip ," Brawner added.
