Australian Capital Territory Attorney-General Shane Rattenbury says he is “deeply concerned” by the allegations surrounding conduct of police and the DPP in the Bruce Lehrmann trial.
“The ACT government is absolutely mindful of the need for public confidence in the criminal justice system here in the Territory,” said Mr Rattenbury.
“We have decided to establish this inquiry to enable consideration of the allegations in a fair, considered, and open manner. “The inquiry will provide a forum to identify whether those involved acted with the rigour, the impartiality, and the independence that the community is entitled to expect.”
