ACEN Corp. and BrightNight have completed the first phase of the 153-MWdc Optima Maharashtra hybrid renewable energy project in India. The project combines wind and solar technologies with BrightNight's AI-powered PowerAlpha platform and is expected to significantly contribute to India's clean energy goals.
ACEN Corp., the power arm of the Ayala Group, and US-based renewable power company BrightNight announced the commissioning of the first phase of the hybrid 153-MWdc Optima Maharashtra project in India. This landmark project signifies a significant step forward in accelerating the energy transition within India.
Optima Maharashtra, situated on over 500 acres in Dharashiv, Southern Maharashtra, seamlessly integrates state-of-the-art wind and solar technologies powered by BrightNight's proprietary AI-enabled PowerAlpha platform. ACEN emphasizes that this cutting-edge system maximizes energy output while minimizing its environmental impact, setting a new standard for scalable and sustainable energy solutions across India. The project is poised to play a transformative role in supporting Maharashtra's ambitious goal of sourcing over 50 percent of its energy from renewable sources by 2030.With the capacity to deliver dispatchable clean energy, Optima Maharashtra can power approximately 230,000 homes annually, concurrently reducing carbon emissions by an estimated 225,000 metric tons per year. The partnership between ACEN and BrightNight, established in 2023, aims to develop a robust pipeline of over 1.2 GW in India. BrightNight APAC chief executive Jerome Ortiz highlights that the parties are actively advancing a gigawatt-scale portfolio in India, leveraging cutting-edge technology to deliver reliable and continuous clean and sustainable power. Ortiz emphasizes that Optima Maharashtra aligns perfectly with the State's clean energy objectives and India's vision to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2070, serving as a pioneering model for similar projects and partnerships in the Asia Pacific region.
