INTERIOR and Local Government Secretary Benjamin 'Benhur' Abalos Jr. gave assurances that justice will be served in the killing of Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo despite the retraction by some of the suspects of their testimonies. READ HERE:

Abalos gave the assurance in front of local government officials, officials of the Philippine National Police and other sectors in Negros Oriental during his visit to Negros Oriental over the weekend.'Many cases have been filed in the Department of Justice and are undergoing preliminary investigation. Others are in the Regional Trial Courts and are just waiting for their decision,' he said.

'On the ground, do your job, and the national government will give you all the support.'Last week, Abalos met with Task Force Degamo to get updates on the progress of the investigation.He instructed the task force to gather more evidence to strengthen the cases against the suspects.The PNP earlier declared that even with the recantation of the testimonies of all the accused gunmen, the evidence against them remained strong.
