PETALING JAYA: The number of applications received to enter Mara junior science colleges is 10 times the number of places available. Newly minted Mara chairman Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said this showed MRSM colleges were still viewed as premier educational institutions. Bernama reported him as saying that 90,000 applications were received this year although there are only 7,169 places at 55 colleges throughout the country.
Speaking after meeting Kelantan Mara and Pengkalan Chepa MRSM staff in Kota Bharu today, Asyraf said RM300,000 had been approved for the Pengkalan Chepa MRSM to upgrade its facilities.
