Around 8,000 operators and drivers of public utility vehicles have withdrawn from the PUV modernization program after a 45-day extension period. MANIBELA and PISTON, two transport groups, report that their members are now restricted in their driving frequency due to cooperative preferences towards modern units. The operators are seeking a way to register and renew their franchise despite not being part of the consolidation scheme.

Around 8,000 operators and drivers of public utility vehicles who had previously applied for consolidation under the PUV modernization program have withdrawn, according to transport groups. This was after the 45-day extension given by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board for consolidation ended on Friday, November 29, Bernadette Reyes reported on ''24 Oras Weekend.
