SPECIAL permits to travel to Metro Manila and the provinces will be issued by the Land Transportation Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to 712 buses this coming Holy Week.
LTFRB Technical Division Chief Joel Bolano said on Tuesday that this will augment the current number of buses that travel from Metro Manila to the provinces and vice versa with the expected influx of passengers for the coming Holy Week. The LTFRB also extended the period of validity of the special permits from March 31 to April 17 instead of just April 2 to 11, 2023 as announced.
The extension of the period of the special permit under LTFRB Board Resolution 009 is in line with Malacañang's Proclamation 90 declaring April 6, 2023 as Maundy Thursday and April 7, 2023 as Good Friday, both as regular holidays.Under the proclamation, the Araw ng Kagitingan which falls on a Sunday is moved to April 10, 2023, Monday.
