The training center for incoming policemen for Central Visayas located in Cebu was penetrated by the coronavirus as 70 police personnel inside tested positive, the Philippine National Police (PNP) reported on Sunday.
There is no data yet to determine if those who tested positive are all police trainees but PNP data disclosed that the results were based on the COVID-19 testing conducted for personnel of the Regional Training Center of the Police Regional Office 7.
The same order was extended to all the police trainees in all training centers of the PNP where incoming policemen have been conducting their mandatory training program before they are absorbed as regular members of the police force. The 70 personnel from the Central Visayas regional training center are among the 136 new COVID cases in the PNP. A total of 32 of the new cases are from the National Capital Region Police Office while the rest were from various police units mostly in Metro Manila.
PNP spokesman Brig. Gen Bernard Banac said another policeman from Metro Manila succumbed to COVID-19, raising the death toll in the PNP to 10.
