Metro Manila saw 590.1 mm of rainfall in 57 hours this week, comparable to the 1,007 mm of rainfall experienced in 72 hours in 2012 when Typhoon Gener enhanced the Habagat , PAGASA said.The 57-hour period covers the period from 8 a.m. on Monday to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, PAGASA Assistant Weather Services chief Chris Perez said in a 24 Oras interview.“May bagyo din noon na halos kapareho ng pagkilos ng bagyong si Carina.
Perez said that the rainfall being experienced in Metro Manila and other Luzon areas should not be compared to the rainfall experienced during Tropical Storm Ondoy.“Magkaibang weather system sila eh. Mas magandang impormasyon na tinignan natin 'yung Habagat episode noong 2012… Kaya natin ikukumpara dahil pareho silang weather system na Habagat at pareho ng sitwasyon na halos pinag-ibayo ng dalawang bagyo sa silangang bahagi ng ating bansa,” he explained.
