5 ex-NPA rebels complete transformation, deradicalization program

FIVE former New People's Army rebels from a Zamboanga del Sur town completed on Friday, January 3, 2025, the Friends Rescued Transformation and Deradicalization Program facilitated by the Army's 53rd Infantry Battalion .The 53IB said the former NPA rebels, now called “Friends Rescued,” are from the municipality of Bayog, Zamboanga del Sur.

The ceremony also included a simple yet inspiring message of encouragement and support for the reintegration of the five Friends Rescued into society, according to the 53IB.'This initiative demonstrates the commitment of the municipal government of Bayog to support the successful reintegration and rehabilitation of individuals who have undergone deradicalization program,' the 53IB said in a statement.
