EXCITEMENT is mounting for the 37th annual Aliw Awards, which will be presented by the Aliw Awards Foundation Inc. (AAFI) at the Fiesta Pavilion of the Manila Hotel on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2024.
EXCITEMENT is mounting for the 37th annual Aliw Awards , which will be presented by the Aliw Awards Foundation Inc. at the Fiesta Pavilion of the Manila Hotel on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2024.The event will be directed by multi-awarded Frannie Zamora, a product of the first Aliw workshop in 1978 and last year's Best Director for the musical 'Ibarra.
' Up for grabs are some 50 categories, covering the entire live entertainment industry.Besides the regular category awards, topped by the Entertainer of the Year award, the foundation with also pay tribute to its lifetime achievement awardees, AHR achievement awardees, and legacy, excellence and special awardees.The lone recipient of the Hall of Fame award is Jade Riccio while the recipient of the AHR achievement award is Lea Salonga.This year, the AAFI has added a new category for Best Rap Artist.Benefactors of this year's event are led by the first lady Liza Araneta Marcos, followed by Mayor Joy Belmonte of Quezon City, Philippine Charity and Sweepstakes Office, Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. and San Miguel Corp.Other sponsors are Greenfield Development Corp., Green Pin, Placenta Whitening Soap, EF Cafe & Restaurant, Barley, Calcium Cee, McDonald's, Kink Cakes and Victoria School Foundation.AAFI is headed by founding President Alice Reyes and the officers and trustees, which are Birdie Reyes III, first vice president; Aristeo Garcia, second vice president; Rema Manzano, ex officio officer; Tess Tan, secretary; Ofelia Cajigal, treasurer; Joey Nombres, public relations officer; and Elna Fabiana, auditorAAFI trustees include Dennis Aguilar, Aisha Reyes, Jory Reyes and Yasmin Reyes.The dinner show starts at 6 p.m., and the attire is formal. Guests and participants are expected to come early.
